The New York State Education Department (“SED”) Office of the Professions (“OP”) is alerting everyone to a vishing scam that has been brought to our attention. Phishing—or “vishing”—scams impersonate SED employees or websites attempting to collect licensure and personal information from the licensee. If you receive an inquiry which you believe to be suspicious do not provide any information. To verify if the inquiry was from OP, contact OP directly using the following contact information. You may report any suspicious communication received to the Federal Trade Commission.

If you are NOT enrolled in or did NOT graduate from an EAC or ETAC ABET accredited baccalaureate program, you must complete this form and submit it with the appropriate examination fee ($70) directly to the Office of the Professions to apply for eligibility in NYS.
If you are applying for eligibility for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam only, and graduated from an EAC ABET or ETAC ABET acredited program, You must apply directly through NCEES. To verify an ABET program, visit their website at www.abet.org.
Use this form to apply for a New York State Engineer in Training Certificate. Qualifications for New York State Engineer in Training Certificate may be found on our web site under License Requirements.

Endorsement Applicants only
Use this form only if you wish to engage in interim practice while your application for licensure is being reviewed and you:
You must have filed an application for licensure as a professional engineer in New York and must be legally qualified to practice in the state or country in which you currently reside or have a place of practice, or in your previous residence or place of practice. Interim practice will only be approved for a limited time to allow the Department time to review your application for licensure. If you are approved to practice for an interim period, you will not be allowed to claim or in any way state that you are providing services as a professional engineer licensed in New York State.
